Find the hidden animals

Somewhere in this letter grid, a GIRAFFE is standing very still. A PENGUIN is waddling diagonally. A DOLPHIN is swimming through a row of random letters. Your job: circle every animal on the list before your break ends.

Drag across a word from its first letter to its last — or tap the first letter, then tap the last. Found animals light up in a colour of their own and get crossed off the list below the grid. When the last one is found, a fresh puzzle is one click away.

Why animal word searches work so well

Animal names are perfect word-search vocabulary: they range from three letters (CAT, FOX, OWL-shaped short words) to eight (ANTELOPE, MEERKAT), which lets the generator scatter a satisfying mix of easy spot-the-rare-letter finds and longer hunting sessions across the same grid. For kids, circling PENGUIN is reading practice that feels like play; for adults, it is the kind of calm, no-pressure puzzle that fits a coffee break.

FAQ

What animals are in the puzzle?

The word pool has more than 40 animals, from short ones like CAT, FOX and BEAR to long ones like GIRAFFE, PENGUIN, DOLPHIN and ANTELOPE. Each puzzle draws a different handful, so you meet new animals every round.

Is this animal word search good for kids?

Yes — start on Easy. The 10×10 grid hides words only in rows and columns (no diagonals), and animal names are great early-reading vocabulary. Medium and Hard add diagonals and larger grids for older players.

Can I print the puzzle?

The puzzle is built to play in the browser rather than to print. If you need printable word searches, choose Easy, take a screenshot of the grid and the word list, and print that.

Do I see the animal names before I find them?

Yes. The word list under the grid always shows every animal you are looking for — this is a spotting puzzle, not a spelling test. Found animals get crossed off as you circle them.
