How to play 2048

2048 is played on a 4×4 grid. Use the arrow keys (or WASD, or swipe on a phone) to slide all tiles in one direction. When two tiles with the same number touch, they merge into one tile with double the value. Every move adds a new tile (a 2 or a 4) to the board.

The goal is to keep merging until you create a tile showing 2048 — but the game doesn't stop there: you can keep playing for a higher score. The game ends when the board fills up and no merges are possible. Your best score is saved automatically in your browser.
